I'm having a very hard time finding a gas tank for my 1960 Pontiac 2 door hard top, Would a 1960 Chevy Impala Gas tank fit a 60 Pontiac Ventura. I found a 1960 Chevy Impala gas tank on Jegs, picture attached, the picture looks super close to what my Pontiac tank looks like. (Attached) _________________ |

According to the Hollander Interchange Manuals the 1960 Pontiac only fits '60 Pontiacs. The 1960 Chevy fits '59-'60 Chevys.
That said, perhaps there are only minor differences. I retro fit a 1972 Chevy Nova gas tank in my 1940 Pontiac. It was close to size (actually almost exactly!), but the filler had to be sealed and a new filler added for the fender filling.
So, if you an get some exact measurements, you might just find one thing that is different, but changeable. But hopefully not with spending big money to learn it can't be modified.
Unless yours id really shot, tank and radiator shops can do wonders repairing them and resealing the inside.
If no luck, try contacting Windy Hill and/or French Lake Salvage yards in Minnesota, or Desert Valley Auto Parts. Don't forget to ask Frank at Frank's Pontiac parts too. See his ad to the left. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
