Hello,
I am new member, this is my first post I am restoring a 1938 Pontiac.
I'm wondering if anyone can help me identify the numbers on this ID plate that is attached to the firewall. I would like to find out what the original color of the exterior was and the dash/interior window trim?

Welcome to PontiacRegistry.com. We have a forum section called "Technical data & Information." In it our paint codes show the following for the 1938 Pontiac:
1938 Color
2211 & 2211D Glacier Blue
2212 & 2212D Wenonah Maroon
2214D Glyndon Green
2215D Elkskin Brown
2216D Casino Beige
2217D Phantom Gray
As for other colors like interior, there is a paint web site: https://www.autocolorlibrary.com/
Go there and click on their "Vintage Library." Many times they will have color info covering interiors and other trim shown. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Thanks for the info Larry. Helpful site!
It doesn't show the interior colors but at least I have the exterior color.
Thanks! Ron. _________________ |

Glad it helped.
I got to thinking that perhaps a lack of interior colors might be because everything was wood grained.
For a neat look at the '38 Pontiac and its introduction, check our On-Line magazine at: http://www.pontiacregistry.com/members/online_magazine.php?view=1&article=139
That is Part I of a three part series. There might be some good information there as you move forward.
As a matter of fact, go to the "Search" in the upper right corner of our home page (look for the bloodhound) and enter "1938 Pontiac." You will be surprised at how much there will be for you to check out. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
