Hello, new member here but long time Pontiac lover. My first car at 12 years old was a '64 Catalina 389 2bbl car but I always dreamed of a 3 pedal car. Well, about a week ago I finally talked an old man out of his '64 421 3x2 4 speed black on black 2+2 Catalina and I still cannot believe it. The car is a project as all of them I have start out, but too rare to pass up. The car is a rare one with TI ignition full gauge package no power steering or brakes. It is however still sitting on 8 lug wheels. I cannot wait to learn more and more about this car and to meet fellow Pontiac people here that share the love of these cars. I will post some pics this evening..... _________________ |

That sounds like quite the find. If it is all original equipment, it is very rare. But if not, still a heck of a performance Pontiac.
Are you uncertain of the 8-lugs? There is a company in the Chicago area that rebuilds 8-lugs if needed.
Look forward to some pictures. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

My pictures are too large, working on getting them loaded. Got the car running last night first time since 1991. It is running on a 400 cuin and the 421 is on a stand ready to be torn down. Today I drop the gas tank and get the wheels off to see what we are working with. It has vintage wheel locks that actually require a regular type of key. My technician friend says he has not seen them in well over 20 years. _________________ |

Sounds like you're on you're way making progress already. Hope all goes well.
As for the wheel locks, they can be a problem down the road when the keys are long lost. Move carefully, you don't want to damage the 8-lugss.
Good luck! _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
