Hi
I live in UK, and against my better judgement, a year ago I bought an abandoned 69 lemans project that came with many new parts.
I am trying to find out what the original registration was for this car (as I don't have any plates with it!!)
I assume the vin will bring that up somewhere but I don't know where to go/look to check.
Any of you gents in US point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Congratulations on your Pontiac project... I think...
Let's see if I understand. You are looking for the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) of your Lemans, right?
The only place you will find that is on the upper left of the dash board, and the engine (if original). If it was contained anywhere else ("hidden") on the body or frame, I have never heard.
If there is a Data Plate, it will be on the cowl, under the hood somewhere.
Did you receive any sort of title or other documentation with the car? Because these are pretty rare by you, is there any sort of government agency that can trace it back through previous owners (who might have registered the car with all its numbers)?
If none of this works, I sure hope your country has a re-registration arrangement for these sort of problems.
Let us know whatever else you might need.

Hi Larry
Thanks for the welcome.
I have matching Vin Plate & the cowl plate so can determine them to be 69 lemans. What I am trying to find is the original registration (licence plate) number that went along with this VIN.
From what I can gather (piecing this together) is that the project looks to have a donor body from a 68 that has been restored (lost of time and money spent on restoring this body) But the vin tags show a 69 lemans.. I know...!!
Not really a problem in the UK, but the purists out there will know that the body is clearly 68.
If I cannot find the original licence plate I'd, then I may loose the car's 'right' as a classic when registering.
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks
