In 1966, my friend Will bought a new car.. His Dad owned a funeral home, and told him to buy a plain sedan.. He ordered a 396-325, M20 4 speed, HD seat, and power antenna, and posi, and am radio.. I loved it! In a Ford town it was cool... Will had it tuned every Friday, for racing Sat night on the Trans Canada highway and Sunday at local drag strip outside Moncton N.B. He ran it at Sanford Maine as well... Car got 4:11's headers and was unbeatable on the street Later got a L72 added (under warranty) lol In 1967 it was raced with the 427 and a bubble scoop By 1970 it was running a 283 3 speed and then wrecked... _________________ 1966 Canadian B-body 396 4 speed 1 of 90 |

There are so many cool factors here, where do you start?
I guess, first... Canadian Pontiacs are WAY COOL! Sure Pontiac lovers don't have much room in their heart for Chebbies, but when you're talking about a Pontiac, they become cool. Engine and driveline aside, some of the Canadian Pontiacs have neat "custom" looking touches that set them apart from everything else. I say, if a Pontiac lover in the U.S. wants something different- get a cool Canadian Pontiac.
Cool item #2 is the plain-Jane 2-door sedan. Those were hardly saved in favor of the decked out convertibles and hardtops, but today, everyone who liked racing wants one. Many years ago you could once in a while find a 2-door sedan police (usually detective) car like this on the back lots of small local car dealers.
And cool item #3 of these photos has to be the '66 Fairlane. I had a '66 Fairlane GT 4-speed 390 when in the Air Force. I did everything I could adding 427 parts, but always fantasized about having a 427. Sorry... I was a Ford guy in an earlier life.
Thanks for the neat Canadian Pontiac info and photos! _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Great story! Were the crossed flags factory? Or added? I grew up in Montreal, so I'm familiar with Red Block Pontiacs! _________________ |
