1948 Streamliner Steering Wheel replacement

I need to replace the steering wheel on my '48 Streamliner Deluxe Sedan. I have removed the trim and am having quite an issue removing the horn ring. Have been told to hold it and gently and firmly rotate it counter-clockwise until it loosens. No luck. I realize that this has been in place for 66 years and won't go easily, but I would appreciate any suggestions. I have a puller to use to get the wheel off but need to complete step one.

On some of the older cars you have to push down on the center button and then turn counter-clockwise. I remember doing it while battery was connected and you had to be fast because the horn was blaring while you did it.

Give it a try and let us know if it works.
