Hello
I would like to put AC into my 1964 GP that does not have air conditioning. Any advice as to the best way to do this?
Thanks,

Tony

Although it will make the purists cringe, the easiest way is with an add-on modern system from a place like Vintage Air.

To add a factory system will probably involve locating a donor car with everything still on it. Then comes lots of dismantling of your car, the donor car, restoration of all the new items and buying new for many of them like compressor, dryer, evaporator, etc. That doesn't even get into the electrical, vacuum controls, etc.

All this can be done, but at big cost and lots of work. Then after all that you will have a 50 year old A/C system.

If you can locate a "period correct" under dash unit, it will still take work and restoration, but less than a "factory" system addition.

If you just want Cool Ride ("Cool" in a number of ways), and aren't too concerned about originality, then the modern add-on system is the way to go. Easier and everything is brand new too!
