1963 389 engine torque specs.

Where do I go in your site to find out the torque specs. for the 389 engine that I'm rebuilding?
I need main bearing, rod bearing, heads, intake, etc.

Unfortunately I am still looking for a 1963 Shop Manual to get in our On-Line Reference Library. However, the shot below is from a Motors Auto Repair Manual. It is pretty inclusive of all the V-8s and a large year span.

As a little double check I have looked at the 1965 Pontiac Shop Manual I have. It concurs pretty well except that for the main bearing is shows 100# plus or minus 10#. So it is actually well within the 95# range shown by Motors. It shows the rear main as 120# also plus or minus 10#.

Connecting rods shows 43# plus or minus 3#, also in range with Motors figures. Cylinder heads are shown as 95# plus or minus 5#.

Manifolds are shown the same with a plus or minus 5#.

Remember to stager your sequences as you tighten too. Follow exact recommended sequence for heads though.

Thanks for the info. Larry. I just finished up sandblasting, priming and painting the frame. Now to rebuild the engine and the rotohydramatic and get that into the frame and I'll start on the body.
