Hi My 64 GP is Alamo Beige in color. One of the previous owners painted the trunk a bright red color. The floor mat & side panels, which appear to be original, are red & black herring bone. What is the correct color of splatter paint to use to make the trunk original looking as possible? I have seen aqua & black, white & gray, and beige with white & black flecks.

Thanks for all your help.
Tony

Go to: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autobodydepot/trunkfinish.aspx?gclid=CKC98qKYupsCFRMhnAodRjq7BA

Check out ZOL DX1756-QT which is for 1961-66 Pontiac. It is the fifth item down. Because it is based on AutoColorLibrary research and development, I would think it is pretty accurate (they are very knowledgable).

Or you can go directly to AutoColorLibrary as they also supply products. I could not find trunk paint ontheir massive web site, but you can call their Technical Support and Product line at: (858) 909-2120.

Please let us know what you find out.

What ever you do, do NOT take your GP to Home Depot and let you wife bring home any plants in that beautiful new trunk! What a great job.

How about some pics of the rest of the car? Ever consider letting us feature it in our On-Line Magazine as a "Cover" Feature of the Month?

That is drop dead gorgeous! What a beautiful car.

I especially like the color. Without diving for the color charts, it is obviously something in the beige family. That was a popular color back in the early '60s for lots of manufacturers. My Dad bought a beige Ford Galaxy 500 in 1962. After that, every car he had got painted beige... including his Jeeps! We joking refer to that as his "Beige Stage."

If you would be willing to put together a story of you and your '64 GP (how acquired, what has been done, where it has traveled, etc.) and some more photos, I would love to do one of our monthly "Cover" Features in our On-Line Magazine. I will also made a special color poster of your car for you.

As a special "Thank you" to all who do this, we are giving two years free membership in PontiacRegistry.com. If you have any questions, about doing this, please just drop me a note.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful GP with everyone.
Larry

You own a very nice Pontiac. I am sure other members along with myself would enjoy seeing more pictures of your Grand Prix and how you made it such a beautiful car.

Bet it is a blast to take for a cruise!!

Hi Larry Here is the summary you requested and some additional photos. Thanks, Tony
My 1964 GP was originally delivered to Centerdale Pontiac near Providence, RI. It has PS, PB, PW, Eight Lug Wheels, a 389 CI engine with a Carter AFB and dual exhausts. I purchased it from the third owner in 2002. The second owner had it in his collection from the late 60's till the third owner purchased it for his wife in 2002. She was not able to drive the car so it was put up for sale on line and I bought it. We brought it to PA on a flat bed truck. The exterior and interior of the car looked much as it does now. However, the engine compartment & trunk had been repainted to make the car a mild “Hot Rod.” The trunk, parts of the engine, the wheels, and the exhaust system were painted bright red. Over the past years we have restored every part of the car back to original.
Mechanically the car has been gone over from bumper to bumper. Anything that needed attention was repaired or replace with original GM or original quality reproduction parts. Every thing works including the clock & the original AM/FM radio. The odometer now reads 14,000 miles and although I do not have paper documentation, all the mechanics at my restoration shop agree that the mileage is correct. Th exterior had been repainted by a previous owner in the original Alamo Beige color. The Saddle interior has only been cleaned & vacuumed. This car has not been restored. The sheet metal, the chrome, the stainless steel the interior are all original. We have won many trophies and have a lot of fun just driving around the area.
I have enjoyed sharing this information with you and would be happy to answer any questions.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Tony Ciddio
