The GP SJ "Golden Anniversary" was a $550.00 package that include, as you mentioned, the t-tops, accent stripes, deck lid 50th anniversary emblem, and also a hood emblem celebrating the 50th anniversary.

Pontiac sure didn't go "all out" celebrating their Golden Anniversary with just this package, did they?

You are correct that they were gold. However, if your mother's was black, I would first ask if it was purchased new or possibly a repaint somewhere down the line. Or perhaps it wasn't an anniversary model and only had the trunk emblem added later... or even by a dealer as a special "goodie".

The t-tops could have been ordered on any GP in 1967, as a matter of fact, 10.1% had them. Even special stripping was available on all LJs.

So the only things that that really made an anniversary edition was all of the $550.00 package, of which onlythe front and rear emblems and the gold paint were actually Anniversary model exclusive.

I don't know if the window sticker would have shown "Golden anniversary Package" as one line with the $550.00 price-- I'm inclined to think it would have. The invoice would definitely have shown it, as wopuld the build sheet.

I recently checked out a true anniversary GP down here in Bradenton, Florida for a fellow up in Ohio. Boy, was it a mess-- but it sure looked pretty in e-mailed pictures. He wanted $10k-plus and almost got it before I warned the other fellow. I would NOT have paid more than $2,000 for the car (if that!). He is presently hunting on one in New Jersey. I hope he finds a good one. Buyer beware-- especially by mail or e-mail!
