1965 Bonneville

PostPosted: Fri May 26, 2006 8:49 pm    Post subject: Replace Heater Core Reply with quote

I have a '65 Bonneville with A/C and I need to replace my heater core. Can this be done from from the inside or do I need to take off the fender to get to the nuts from the engine bay side? Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks. Ward.

Get a factory manual.

On the 1963 B Bodies, you have to remove the inner fender to get at a few of the screws holding the heater box to the firewall. You know you're in trouble when you read the manual and step 1 is "Remove the passenger side headlight bezel."

Shocked

I'm pretty sure the 1965 is similiar. Good luck.

I replaced the heater core on my `64 Bonneville Convertible approx 12 years ago and everyrthing was accessible from under the dash and the engine compartment. I never had to remove any fenders, inner or outer.

The '65 manual does not mention any fender or inner panel involvement. Just to do the obvious (drain fluid, remove hoses, control cable, vacuum hose, etc.), then:
- "remove six nuts securing heater to air inlet duct assembly"
- "remove heater core and case assembly"
- "remove heater core"
