Hey all,
Just joined this site after stumbling across it while researching Pontiac parts.
I'm the proud owner of a 1972 Grandville Ragtop, and I love it. It only sees the road on nice warm, summer days (needs a new top ).
I've owned many Pontiacs over the years, my first car being a Verado Green 1969 Custom S in High School
Right now, my son and I are looking for a 1968 Grand Prix "project car" for him to work on, but they are hard to find.
The closest one I've found to where I live, is near Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and unfortunately, we can't get a hold of the guy selling it...bummer,
Anyway, I'm hoping to able to join this site permenantly, down the road
Cheers, Ian M _________________ |

The 1968 Grand Prix is in the love it or hate it category. I am more inclined to the "love it" side of the debate. It sure is unique looking and not often seen today.
I wouldn't lament not being able to connect with the one you have found so far. It's been my experience that anyone advertising a car who can't be gotten a hold of is potential problems. What sort of "quality" person would advertise something and then disappear? Might be exceptions, but I'd look elsewhere.
There was a beautiful black '68 GP on some dealer's site that someone sent me info on a short while ago. It was fantastic, and not horribly priced either. Keep hunting, the right one will come along.
We welcome you to become a full member and advertise all year for what you need. Remember also that we have some super Member Discount deals from many commercial suppliers... like a new top for that Grand Ville. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Larry,
Thanks for the greeting.
Yes, I couldn't agree more. I love the '68s because they were different. Its almost like the designers at Pontiac couldn't decide how they wanted to style the car, but they managed to pull it off.
I'll keep looking.

Hey all,
I figured since I was the Noob here, I would post a picture of my Grandville.
Through word of mouth, my Ex and I found this sitting in a barn, where it had sat for 5 years.
I threw in a battery, poured some gas down the carb, and drove it home.
She cleaned up real nice, but the barn time dry rotted the top. There is some rust issues, but overall, shes pretty solid.
I'm only the 2nd owner of the car. The previous owner kept everything. I have all of the original documentation, including the original window sticker.
I love this car, but I would trade it for a my first love, '68 Grand Prix, in a second

Hope you like it.

That is truly a Barn Find! Even the barn is a collectible. Guess it proves one should peek in every building no matter how deceiving it may look.
For a convertible top, you might want to check under "AFFILAITES" then "Member Discounts" and "Pontiac Parts." Look for ARO 2000/Putt Georgi Ltd. Read the description of their business and the discount they give our PontiacRegistry.com members.
They are original suppliers of GM tops for many years. They may (don't know for sure) be a bit more expensive than some places, but from some of the horror stories you hear about bad convertible tops, worth the extra money. Ask for the owner (Putt Georgi). He is very nice and helpfull. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
