Currently restoring a 1963 pontiac lemans, It has a V-8 automatic transmission. Looking for another v-8 automatic transmission that is rebuildable. Does anyone have knowlede of these transmissions, can a transmission from a 4 cyclinder car be upgraded to work in the v-8 models? Thanks in advance. _________________ |

Check with our Automatic Transmission Technical Advisor, Steve Peluso. He prefers to be called at: 617-327-2122
He owns a transmission shop in Mass. and has a lot of Pontiac experience. If he is not knowledgable of the transaxles, I bet he knows who is. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

The four cylinder 63 automatic transaxle is not the same as the V8 auto transaxle. FATSCO in NJ sells parts and they even have an old timer that still knows how to work on these. I also have a personal friend that knows how to rebuild these transaxles too, Also in NJ.
I know this is an old post but just in case someone else runs into a jam, contact me with a PM for help.
