Looking for help on the correct 4 BBL carb for 69 GP SJ 428 370 hp. I have 3 Rochester Carbs. Car had 3 carbs in the trunk, all look like they would fit. #'s I wrote down came from the side of the carb in a vertical posistion from bottom to top:
Carb #1) 17058520
Carb #2) 17044513
Carb #3) 17083204
Then there were #'s like 32747 & Elec Choke #7063425 on Carb # 1
Numbers like 32747 on top, 9909 on the bottom, 2293 on Carb # 2
#'s like 2642 FRB, 17070839 inside a circle, 71325T mount PLT, Carb # 3
Any suggestions/ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

In checking the 1969 Shop Manual I see a carb listing by model number vs. engine and transmission useage. It is for the Rochester 4MV Quadrajet.
The only 428 listing is as follows:
Model #7029262....... 428 Bonneville automatic transmission
Model #7029263....... 350-400 &428 manual transmission
Model #7029268....... 350-400 &428 automatic transmission
None of those numbers you list seem to apply to anything shown for the '69s. That doesn't mean that they won't work on your car. They just wouldn't be "original." Over the years, carbs got changed often, and usually with something different. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Many thanks, that does help a lot.
Maybe I can trade one of those at the swap meet for the correct carb # for my 69 Grand Prix 428 Pontiac??

Try the link below concerning identifying your carb(s). If their info doesn't help, perhaps a call to them might get even more info. They look to be pretty top-notch.

A trade of carbs would be easier if you could identify the ones you have first. Who knows, you might have one from a 427 'Vette or something... probably worth enough to put one of the kids through college. Wishful thinking, huh? _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Hey, that was a good source to call, they gave me what I needed to identify the carbs I have.
They could not tell me what came on a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix 428 w/AC.
I might get a call back. No emails from them it seems.
Again thanks a bunch, still on the hunt.
