Hey Super,
My 06 Suburban 1500 has an almost new set of MICHELIN MUD and SNOW 16in tires. Don't know what ply or rating for sure but they're a good set of tires. They set me back a pretty penny.....
I took your advice and ordered a set of "Air-Lift" air bags for the coil springs. Will be delivered to my door for less than $90.00 after shipping costs.
Looked at a video on installing them and it looks prety straight forward and easy enough to do in a short period if time.
This should help even things up and give me a safer ride. The coil springs alone just seem too mushy.
I hope to be making this trip shortly after Christmas and hope they aren't snowed in up in NY.
Thanks for all the responses........ _________________ |

Just before Christmas I installed the Air Lift bags SUPER recomended.
Just after Christmas I made the trip. Long story short, I returned home with a complete 1966 Catalina 2 dr Ht, two fenders and a straight front bumper..
Had no problems towing, even running 65 mph in good straight-away's with the load. The Air Lift bags made all the difference on my Truck / Trailer combo.
Thanks SUPER for the advice.
Starting my project...
Again, thanks for all the replys. I will lean on you more as I get onto this. _________________ |

Congratulations on a safe, successful trip. Looks like a little extra investigation and preparation paid off. Even if you could have done it without the alterations, it is nice to know that you took extra precautions that might have made all the difference in the world if an unexpected situation had come up.
Keep us posted on your progress. |
