Hello to all,

First and foremost, What a Great Web Site!!! I've stumbled onto something that will be very helpful. I'm glad I found this site.

I have a 1966 Pontiac 2dr ht. I've had since I was teenager and I'm in my 40's now so it's in desperate need of a restoration. I'm contending with a lot of rust and it will need an engine. My father and I will be taking this on. He is a car nut too. We've never taken a project this big on before so I'll be posting with questions on a regular I'm sure...

Before we start can anyone tell me a little about the vehicle's vin.

The vin is 252376E178000.

I know it is a 66 Catalina Hardtop Sport Coupe assembled in Linden NJ.

My question pertains to the serial Number.

Is this the 178th car or the 178000th car?

Anything you guys could tell me will be a big help... I'm currently looking for a parts car or two.... I don't know what other pontiac parts are interchangable.

Thanks Y'all

The '66 Pontiac is one of everyone's favorites; really claen lines.

Thanks for the compliments on PontiacRegistry.com. It is perhaps the most Pontiac information ever compiled in one place... and growing!
Be sure to check our On-Line Pontiac Service Manual Reference Library. One of the manuals we have completely on-line already is the entire 1966 Pontiac Service Manual. It should be a ton of help for you.

Be sure to advertise for any parts you need in the Classified forums. Also, check our companies giving our members nice discounts on parts and services. Check under "AFFILIATES" and then "Member Discounts" for a full listing.

As for your VIN. That is a pretty cool round-number VIN. However, since the cars at that plant started with #1000,001, that makes yours the 77,999 Catalina built at that plant. That would include all body styles.

Keep us posted on your progress and yell if you need any help.
