When you check the roof lines of the sedans vs. the hardtops you can see a distinct difference. Note how the Catalina roof is much flatter in the front corners than the sedan's. Even the vent windows are flat on the top.

There were sun visors for the hardtops as well as the sedans, but I'm betting they are getting pretty scarce.

Be very careful if you find one that it is the perfect fit as I've seen people really scratch up their paint jobs trying to fit something that wasn't going to fit. The clamps into the rain gutters are something that need to be perfect too, and many times these items found at swap meets and such have the wrong hardware. The best luck would be to find one on a car in a junk yard so you could make templates of the drilling (if center supported), etc.

Have you contacted one of our Featured Commercial Suppliers California Pontiac Restoration to see if thaeyhave one or have a lead on a place that might? Owner Rich Plastino is also giving our members a nice 10% discount on parts.

Don't rule our Chevrolet too (or the smaller Oldsmobiles). They are probably the same... but check carefully as I have only a guess here. Since the visors were made by Fulton, an aftermarket company, I'm guessing there was interchangability. Does anyone kow of any other manufacturer of these visors? Were any actually made by Pontiac?

Drop a note to our Technical Advisor, John Harvey. he is expert on all therse earlier Pontiacs of the '50s. He can be found in the Technical Advisor listing.

Keep us posted on your progress.

The side parts that attach the sunvisor to the car are different for sedans and coupes compared to the Catalina. The rest of the sunvisor is the same. I have a sunvisor off a 52 Catalina for sale, but it has the center support that goes to the center strip of the windshield, so it will not work for your car. The 53-54 one has a center bracket that screws to the roof.
