1969 Lemans

I was just given this car! A lady at Church heard me talking about cars and told me she has this old Pontiac in her garage that her husband used to drive. Said it has sat in there since 1977 when he parked it last.
All she remembered was that it was a Pontiac convertible. I had NO idea what I'd find behind the door...anyway, it is a '69 Lemans convertible in near MINT condition (minus a LOT of dust). It has some weird looking 6 cylinder engine, too. I've never seen one of these before.
It has only 19,381 miles on it. No rust anywhere, no tears in interior, perfect.
Can someone help identify this model?
Thanks! Jim (Email: DartGT1970@Yahoo.com) |

I hate you!
The engine is an OCH 6, a very cool engine that was a Pontiac exclusive.
What a score! |

You are one lucky fellow!
Not only did you score a Lemans convertible, you got super low mileage one, AND an OHC-6.
Once upon a time you couldn't give an OHC-6 car away, but then people learned the unique history behind the engine (plus that it was a 6000 rpm screamer!) and they have become very sought after and respected pieces of Pontiac automotive history.
Pleae keep us posted as you bring this very nice Pontiac back to life. |

Very neat find. Hope you enjoy your new Pontiac.
The OHC Pontiac does have a very neat history. I enjoy seeing these cars ever chance I get.
About 20 years ago, a fellow in my home town had a OHC firebird. It was a stick shift car with split manifold and 4BBL carb. I remember setting up a street race with this guy and another local who had a 1966 fairlane with a 289. The 289 had some bolt on mods. It was very funny to watch the Firebird stomp the fairlane.
Cool Pontiac!! |

Im so jealous right now !! You hit the jackpot !! That OHC6 is a great runnin high revvin 6 banger and its rare to even see one anymore. People always swap out the big Block Pontiac for it. I would keep this car just the way it is, but maybe clean it up nice. Great Car and let us know your progress. _________________ RED

Do you have the 2-speed automatic? With the "Sprint" 4-bbl option and a stick it should be able to break 'em loose.
But then again.... other things can break too!
Still can't get over how lucky you were! Enjoy. |

Glad to hear you are enjoying the car. The OHC6 is a special part of Pontiac history. Those engines really stormed in their time.
Just proves you don't have to always have a big V-8 under the hood to enjoy something. I would think the OHC6 would be a blast to drive.
Got any more pictures to share?
Thanks |
