New to site and Pontiacs, have a 62 Catalina 4 door Sedan that I'm restoring and would like to do a few upgrades like front disc brakes and dual exhaust among a few, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Would like to keep 14" wheels, if not possible then I would keep drum system but would like to use a dual master cylinder for safety. Anyone use a EFI system? The car is a 389 two barrel carb and would consider upgrading to EFI for something more reliable. Also looking for upholstery supplier or upholsterer in the Niagara Falls, Ontario ,Canada area. Again any suggestions of information would be greatly appreciated. The car is originally from San Diego so is a US car.

Few offer full-size car conversions, however Master Power Brakes does. Check them at: https://www.mpbrakes.com/productcategory/pontiac-catalina-1962-front.asp
I would recommend calling and speaking with a tech person. They don't mention switching to 15" wheels, but I have seen that mentioned in other forums for caliper clearance. I would switch to 15" any way. They will look better on a big car, ride better, and even potentially increase mileage. They can probably help you with your dual master cylinder conversion.
Switch to EFI...? Keep it original, and with the 2-bbl. will probably still get decent mileage. Seems like a lot of work. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

I just completed a body off complete restoration on a 1962 catalina safari 9 passenger wagon.I installed 4 wheel disc brakes that i got from classic disc brakes. If I was to do it over again I would not use them again. They took forever to deliver and had many modifications to fit proper.I installed a dual stainless exhaust system that I got from Waldrons exhaust systems, fit perfect. |
