That's a very rare one. Grab it if you haven't already!!
We've got some article information about that car in our On-Line Magazine. Don't have it at my fingertips, but it can be found in the Contents List.
Will try to get some more info when get a moment. Just got back home from our "Pontiac Celebration" in Rhode Island... lots catch-up to do now. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Larry I do own the little car now Ibought it with intensions of building a gasser to race on nastolgia nights.Your coment that the car is rare kind of has me second guessing my idea.Could you explain more on how rare I hate to cut up a car that would be better off restored. _________________ |

Please!!!!! don't chop up a 215 V-8 '61 Tempest!! There are so many non-V8s around to use.
I will get some numbers for you. These are so rare they must be saved. I don't know if that makes them expensive, but they still are very rare.
This aluminum V-8 was used by Buick and I believe Olds F-85, but were most rare for Pontiac because Pontiac had that neat "half-a-389" engine.
Is this a running, driving car? What body style? I assume a coupe as a 4-door wouldn't make a cool racer. Do you have some photos to share?
Please hold off for a bit while I get some info for you.
Thanks,

I definitely would not chop up the car.
They only built 2004 1961 Tempest with the optional 215 aluminum V-8.
3 of them were stick shift cars.
The remaining 2001 had automatics.
An extremely rare car indeed.
This car is deserving of a restoration in my opinion.
Good find!!!!! |

Super is correct on the production numbers. Oddly this engine isn't even listed in the engine listings (in my ref book), but rather under the options. It was an additional $216.00
In 1962 the 215 V-8 was built in 1658 quantity, with 86 being stick and 1572 automatics. Then it was no more as the '63s saw the introduction of the 326 as a standard engine.
This is really a car worth keeping intact and hopefully preserving or restoring. What condition is it in at this time?
Please let us know what you do with it. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

I have dropped an e-mail to a friend who is all about the early Tempest to see if he has, or knows of someone who might have, interest in the car. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
