|
|
Hello all,
I've got a 64 Catalina sport coupe with a 389 4 bbl. When I purchased the car I noticed that the throttle linkage near the fire wall had a half hearted repair with some zip ties and a piece of pipe insulation. My problem is I'm not sure of the part number/name to repair this and cannot find anyplace with the part. I've uploaded a few pictures that show the part and its location and would be grateful for any help!
Thanks
- Frank

It is difficult to tell from your photos just what the part is. Are you sure it isn't just wrapped up for vibration/noise purposes?
I have attached the parts drawing and list of the '62-'64 full-size Pontiac in hope it might help. The parts book does not differentiate between 2-bbl and 4-bbl.
Let me know if this helps any. If not, we will dig some more. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Hi
The diagram is a huge help thanks!. The part that is pictured is the firewall linkage.
The part isn't being covered for noise/etc, the linkage is very loose and the pressure from the zip ties holding the pipe insulation is holding it all together. There is also a zip tie under the dash holding the linkage from the pedal. I called East-West and am waiting for them to get back to me about the availability of a replacement linkage. Are there any companies that make new linkage for this car?
Thanks |

Glad the information helped.
I doubt anyone is making the replacement linkage. Seems if you don't have tri-power, you're out of luck.
Try contacting Frank at Frank's Pontiac Parts out in California. He has lots of cars of that vintage, and probably things like linkage are rarely sold individually... meaning he probably has what you need. See Frank's ad to the left. Click on it, or call the number shown.
Another source would be Steve at Indians Pontiacs. You can find Steve's contact info under "AFFILIATES" then "Member Discounts." _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

I heard back from East-West in Tulsa, OK. They have the linkage and it should be here next week.
I agree that unless you have a tri-power car you aren't going to find a new linkage....hopefully someone will supply these in the future.
Thanks! |
