I contacted Harry Samuels and was told he was getting out
of the business. Who else makes original type seat covers
and other interior related items. I'm looking for my 60
Bonneville.
Any suggestions or info will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill _________________ |

I have not spoken with Harry for a while, but the last time he was kind of betwixed and between on what he was going to do. I am not aware of the level of service that he is offering at this time.
If anyone ever deserved a good retirement and rest, it is Harry. However, who is going to step in and fill those big shoes?
The only other place I have heard of offering good quality interior products is SMS Auto Fabrics in Oregon. That being said, I would never wish to say anything bad about a supplier, but I have heard a couple less than happy reports over the years. I do not know the basis of any of them, so would only say be very careful and be very clear with your wants and needs. Get everything in writing also. They can be contacted through their web site at: http://wwwsmsautofabrics.com.
I will call them and talk about their support to our Pontiac hobbyplace and see if I can get a discount for our members too.
In a web search I also found Original Auto Interiors in Michigan, but I do not know if they just sell fabrics or finished items. Check them out at: http://www.originalauto.com
Please keep us posted as you check into this because we need to know where the good sources are. |

Both my brother & I got repro interior door and rear quarter panels pre-assembled by SMS for our '66 2+2's. They did have a few bugs to work out with my brother's whose were made first, but they made it right for him and re-did them and shipped them back to him in very short order, and didn't offer any complaints or excuses!
My panels came out just about perfect the first time and the fit and vinyl plus stainless bands were an exact match to the originals. Their costs were similar to what others were quoting at the time and at the time they had many back orders but got the panels done when they said they would.
Some panels were available from another supplier but were not an exact match.
Several other Pontiac buddies have gotten interior parts ( one was a '62 tri-tone convertible) from them, and were alll very satisfied with the quality and price. Just keep in mind you need to contact them well in advance to find out how long it wil take. |
