I am going to make an "open call" here to everyone because of something I heard the other day from a fellow on the phone. I'll be very honest and straight forward here.

This fellow was "disappointed" because he didn't find some information he wanted at PontiacRegistry.com concerning some car/engine specifications.
I asked him if he had posted any requests for help, and he said "no". I asked him if he had contacted any of our Technical Advisors, and he again said "no". I asked him why he didn't use the services available and ask our members for assistance... he had no answer.

As many of you know I have been active in the car, especially Pontiac, hobbyplace for over 30 years. The creation of PontiacRegistry.com is something I have done (and it ain't been cheap either!) to build a place for the Pontiac hobbyist... ALL Pontiac hobbyists.... to come to seek help, share stories and information.... generally to enjoy the Pontiac hobby to the fullest. But, I can't do it for someone.

The internet is a relatively new medium for many, and with it comes the need to be very proactive. We have a number of members who use the forums regularily and are helping others too. We need EVERYONE to jump on and use the services. You can't break anything and the information won't necessarily fall off the screen into your lap either.

That being said, however, I want to request that everyone send me a list of things they would like to see at PontiacRegistry.com that will help them and others enjoy it even more. This is your chance.... swamp me with requests. That is what I want. Also swamp me with information to post and share with everyone. I can guess at what everyone wants to see, but this way we can cut right to the finished product.

My goal has always been to build the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world. Now is your chance to help me do that. This is a long term commitment on my part, and fortunately I enjoy every minute of it. I will enjoy it even more if I know that I am bringing you exactly what you wish to see.

Thanks for eveyones' help.
Larry

Building a "pontiac encyclopedia" for members listing part casting #'s would be great as "pontiac purest" pointed out. It would be an easy way to check out items we may be wanting to potentially buy or help a member from being mislead, etc.

How about a section of the site dedicated to the production number of Pontiacs? Several people try to recover information to find out the production numbers of their car. Make this the ultimate internet source for pontiac production numbers. It would require a lot of dedication and much space, but it would be a very resouceful tool for pontiac hobbyists. It is a file that could be continously added to. Big project, but it would be interesting.

I would love to see more coverage of racing events and shows. I know this is volunteer work, but it is appealing to me. More coverage for the east and west coast?

How many members enjoy seeing original road tests of Pontiacs? I know it sparks an interest for me. A section dedicated to road tests would be interesting. I have been seeing more of these types of articles in magazines. Must be interesting or they would not publish. Not all of us have old archives around to have access to these articles. We could build a large library of these articles. Any reason why they could not be ran on this site?

Just a few ideas. Some may be unrealistic.

Thank you Larry.

Jeff

Thanks for the input. A couple are already in place.
The production numbers can be found in the "Technical Articles" section. But now that I think about it, perhaps we should change the title to "Tech Articles and Information".
The vintage test reperts are published in the On-Line Magazine periodically. I have many more to still do and am always looking for more if anyone has any to share. I can work right from the magazine and return unharmed.
We definately could use some volunteers to cover events, both races and shows.... you just capture some photos and jot down some thoughts and I'll do the rest.
I will gladly add as much technical data as I can. Please, everyone share what you have or point me in some new directions. This information is always prepared and placed in the On-Line Magazine and also placed in the Technical Article archive.
Keep the ideas and suggestions coming!
Thanks,
Larry

Any reference material on identifying manual transmissions would be interesting. I have not seen very many articles on this.

Borgs-Warner

T-10

Super T-10

Saginaw

Muncie

An in depth article on this would be useful and educational. It would be a good source for members strolling through swap meets. Hopefully it would be helpful to several members.

More articles on conversions would be great. I know many members have made successful conversions on their cars to make them more street friendly. Lets see these explained. Hopefully the members will want to pass their succesful conversions to others. Seems like the majority of Pontiac enthusiast are great about sharing their ideas and successes.

MORE RACE COVERAGE. How about some race cars for feature Pontiacs of the month? Surely we have die-hard racing members that could tell us cool stories about their drag cars. More drag racing coverage in general.

OK guys!

Jeff has thrown out a few ideas. Anyone have some info squirrelled away they can share. Just point me in the right direction and I'll do the rest.

Pontiac race car Cover Cars for the On-Line Mgazine.... love the idea. Drop me a note race fans and send me some photos and a short story. I'll do the rest.

Swamp me with info.... there can't be too much to do when it comes to preparing materials to share here.

Thanks,
Larry

How about an "old" Pontiac photo archive for members to check out. I am refering to old drag racing photos taken by members or other contributors.

It does not have to be mainstream racers. I simply enjoy nostalgic pictures. It would give members a chance to share some memories in a simple fashion. They really don't need to write any text with the pictures, just show us some cool Pontiacs.

Probably will not get much response. I will try to be more positive though. Maybe you will get flooded with pictures.
