Hi, I have a 52 chieftain. Can anyone help by advising the maximum diameter the brake drum can be turned? Also am looking for the boot that connects the ducts under the frame for the air supply to the under seat heater. thanks Joe

You may not find an "actual" maximum size, but perhaps you can get the answer in a round-about way.
If anyone has a manual showing the "original" diameter (such as my 1940 manual shows it has 11" ID drums), then call NAPA or any such shop that turns drums and they will tell you what the state law for maximum material removal is.
As a matter of fact, often times well established NAPA shops many times have info going back quite far. Worth a visit.

For the duct boot check with some of our Featured Commercial Supliers such as FixIt Rubber Products, California Pontiac Parts, and Kurt Kelsey. They all will give you a discount also as a member of PontiacRegistry.com.

I will have to get back to you on the brake drums, I just got in a CD on the years or1949-1954 fromGeneral Motors. On the heating boot, I could not find one, so I went to Home Depot and got a metal dryer vent hose and cut it to the size needed and painted it flat black and put it on.

Moeman, I used the dryer vent for the round ducts but the otherone looks rectangular. I didnt think about forming it to that shape. Thanks

I just got done loading the CD on the computur and there was nothing on the size of the drums. All it said was if you were going to use standard brake shoes, to make sure you do not take off more than .020 and no more than .060 diagmiture. I will keep checking for you.
