Just wanted to share this with you all. I have two Pontiacs. One older Pontiac, a 1987 Fiero GT and a newer Pontiac, a 2005 Grand Am. Most of my posts and club activities revolve around the Fiero, but I enjoy my Grand Am a lot too.
Last Friday while driving to work, I hit some type of road debris doing about 70 mph. I couldn't see what it was because it was still dark out, but it made a resounding thud when it impacted my bumper and rolled under my car along the passenger side. It sounded bad, but when I got to work, the only damage I found was a large scuff mark on the underside of the bumper and part of my lower air dam was gone. Not too bad, but I figured perhaps $50-125 dollars in damage. The air dam is part of a larger piece that continues on to the passenger wheel well.
I left work early that day to go to my local dealer, Peninsula Pontiac in Torrance. I was shocked to find out the part I needed was only $15.29! God bless GM! So, after that rather long story, I love Pontiac (and GM) because I feel I don't get raped for parts and service when I come limping in with a need. I appreciate that. GM has been catching a lot of heat for doing things all wrong, but I'd like to say they are doing a lot of things RIGHT too. I got home and replaced the part in all of about 30 minutes, buffed out the scuff mark and used a little touch up paint and the car looks great.
A friend of mine has a newer GMC truck and a newer Toyota Camry. He has recently had some warranty work done on both vehicles. He takes the GMC in and explains the problem (gauges malfunctioning), they take the truck and it gets fixed and he's done. Toyota however, gives him a lot of grief about some parts not being covered, and, oh, by the way, your car needs this and this and this too which are not covered. Long story short, he ends up paying for everything and is now disputing it with Toyota. Big headache. He won't be going back to Toyota.
So, thank you Pontiac and GM and keep up the good work! You have a life long customer with me. |
