We need to get the word out that we are alive and well! We are relatively new and I guess not many Pontiacers know of us. Everyone, let's spread the word.

I have a Link permanently embedded in the Signature Line of every E-Mail I send out, and with my activities in the hobby, that's a fair number of E-Mails going out. I've also tried to include a Link to this site in my Forum Posts on other site's Forums. So, short of a full page Ad somewhere, I don't know what else Larry could do, or anyone else for that matter.

Sometimes you need to rejoice that those who have nothing to say don't say it. Unfortunately too many forums decline into personal insults among the "in crowd". So far, we have a group with enough class not to insult each other in the name of humor, and enough judgement to decide that if they have nothing to add, they don't add it any way.

Amen to that. I've been on a number of Forums that rapidly declined into inanity, 'CarCrazyCentral' seems to be heading that way for one.

I don't think insulting will draw any more, or any less, being honest won't hurt (i.e., I think Pontiac really screwed up when they came out with that horror show called an Aztek). Now that's my opinion, and no one has to agree with it, but insulting each other doesn't prove a thing, other than how immature one may be. Let's encourage disagreement, not insults.

Although true - let's face the facts: In our consumer society - most people "Vote With Their Feet". John Deloren, Jim Wangers et al were all too aware of this, they developed, and downright thrived and prospered on the contraversy THEY created...all for the name of Pontiac! So let's cut the altruist bull here. We are Men and Women who share the passion about Pontiac's, and, last time I checked, we all have freedom of opinion and choice to express our freedom of speach without worrying about who's panties get wadded. I agree that no one should have to endure the "Flaming" that goes on in life...but that's the way it is. Let's not shy away from speaking the truth we feel to be worried about ruffling the feathers of the 6 posters here on this forum. How else will you attract the "New-Younger" people of interest? Do you think that they give 2 craps about being polite - all of the time? Check out some of the Blogs like MySpace, You Tube, etc... That would be the same as you and I not taking our Poncho out and Banging the Gears and Blowing out the soot because we might offend someone...because we don't conform to the norm (whatever that is) for most it doesn't include vehicles, let alone our beloved Pontiacs.

I paid my $ to be a member here and support this site, It's my opinion, and I thank the original poster for having the Nads to post what I have been thinking for months. Unstand that I wish this board and site to thrive...we need to work on that to make it happen.

Let's move on and attact others to this board!

That happens when Moderators dont Moderate !! The Ol' School Rods Forum is nice and when people start getting stupid they get jumped on by everyone else and that usually discourages people from forcing their opinions on everyone else. Ive found that in the past if i had a strong opinion on something i usualy start by saying. " This is my opinion and feel free to disagree but i mean no insult " So far i have not been attacked and sometimes intelligent conversation is created and my mind is swayed.

In my opinion, your approach is the right way to handle things. Regardless of one's age, being considerate isn't a bad thing, nor in my mind, has being considerate gone out of style.

This difference between this forum and others is its a Pontiac Forum so we all have at least that in common which keeps the flaming down to a very minimum.

Ol School Rodz is a Forum about all Ol School Rodz regardless of Make or Model which brings out the Brand and Model loyalty in everyone. Im a Pontiac Loyal Lover and i defend it to the best of my knowledge but i do not tell someone your stupid for building a Chevy or Dodge regardless of my dislike for either make or model. My Friend is an Avid Crosley inthusiast and i think its cool. I dont quite understand it .... but he does and thats all he should care about.

My Love for Pontiacs started a long time ago and has turned into a somewhat obsession for me. I like sharing a Forum with people that feel the same way. It just seems like none of the useful information about Restoration is exchanged here like on Ol'School Rodz. I learned more on OSR about Bodywork and paint than i ever did here and that is a Free Forum. Im just saying that Banter between Poncho lovers can only be as good as we want it to be. Another example is the 1950's Pontiac Yahoo forum which is much more active than this and its also Free.

I dont mean any disrespect to anyone who runs or moderates this form i would just like to see it grow a little faster but i have the feeling that the Fee is killing it. I really think twice about renewing my membership cause i work in the Auto industry ( Visteon Corp. a Ford Supplier ) and we are on layoff and are losing our Jobs in April and Money is tight. If there was more sharing of information and knowledge it would be better spent money. Im spreading the word as much as i can but how much advertising is PR.com doing in these magazines. Sometimes its nice to get a reply even if you dont know. At least i know someone is listening.

For those of you who have helped me with my annoying problems I THANK YOU. For those of you who didnt .... Jump in !! We'd like to know you're there.

My goal here is to make Pontiac Friends and share useful information.
Thanks for listening !!

This forum is still pretty new. Word will get out and it will flourish.

The best thing we can do is use it. The more we use the forum the more enthusiasts will be attracted to it.

Telling others about it is great, but other Pontiac fans will not come here unless they see a forum being used and enjoyed.

The fee thing can be a stumbling block indeed, but many of the more established Forums are able to do something that maybe PontiacRegistry hasn't yet been able to do, and that is rely on advertising to pay the cost of having their Forums on the Web. Maybe in time the fee will be able to be reduced, or done away with, or it could happen, as it did with a lot of free photo posting sites, that as the others find that they aren't able to attract enough advertisers to offset the costs of Web Hosting for their sites, that they'll either institiute a fee, or simply close down.

I think Stu Norman has it right, whatever each of us can do to promote this Forum, will help, and I agree with you (bodyworx), that we have a good thing, in that this being an all Pontiac site, tends to help avoid the loyalty issue, and that in turn helps avoid fanning the flames of discontent. I for one will do my best not to insult anyone, even when I do disagree with them, which is pretty much how I've approached my involvement with ANY Forum I'm on.
