On a 1968 Firebird 400 car, did the factory make any special markings on the firewall to distinguish a 400 car?

If so, what was marked on the firewall or under the hood?

I have a friend in Springfield Missouri who is restoring a original 400 car. The car has been documented through PHS, but Alan asked for a little help on this subject.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please contact by e-mail at jredhage@fidnet.com

Thank you.

There was no code in the VIN to indicate engine size, but in a round-about way, you may be able to know if it was originally a 400. If it has the original engine, compare the car VIN with the VIN stamping on the engine and then check the engine code to see if it is a 400. The 400's were coded WZ, WQ, WI, YT, YW, or XN.
