It appears that no longer do you have to have one of the 8 1969 Trans Am convertibles to make big money.

Check this '69 Trans Am RV IV that went to a new home at the Mecum Dallas, Texas auction September 5-8. If you had a dollar over the $185,000 it could have gone home with you instead of whoever coughed up those big bucks.

A well documented, numbers matching car it was. But as much as muscle car lovers want to stir things with a 4-speed, this automatic backed 400 made it one of only nine built that way.

Out of 689 coupes built, it looks like the remaining 688 aren't gonna be going for low bucks any time soon. So start saving your nickles and dimes!

Larry I'm still trolling through some of the old posts & thought I'd say something about the RAIV T/A's. I think I had mentioned that I knew Barry Martin very well, in fact he's probably one of my best friends. When he's down my way he usually stays here at my house,,, when he has time other wise we usually just do our dealings & go to dinner or some liquid refreshment. But back in 84 about 3 years after we met I remember we had the GTOAA Nat's at a Hotel near the silver dome & he stopped in to see me & my wife at the time. He said come on outside & look at what i drove down in. I was shocked because he said he had been out doing a little bit of street racing before he came to the hotel on Telegraph. We got out to the car & it was his RAIV 69 T/A. I was drooling on it. Granted it was not worth then what it is now , but still he was out street racing with it. He said well it's just a car. A couple years later he sold it for I think about 15K so he could of course buy more parts & expand his business more but I was impressed with it even then. It was a real car too. It was an auto . It didn't have all the RA parts on it at that time because he said it ran faster with out it. But he had all the parts. It so so nice back then . He used it like an every day car , didn't drive it every day but he would run errands in it. But every time he came out in it day or night being in the Detroit area someone would always pull up next to him & want to go..

I have a 73 GTO that I bought new, well it was a demo because the car I ordered was an SD car which never came in & i had to take what was left because I was in the Navy & had to talk to the dealer when I could.
