I may be insane-early 60's Sedan Delivery?

Not sure if anyone here is/was a model builder, but Monogram had a model kit in the 70's that they released under a couple of names, the ones I remember are "Quicksilver" and "Street Fighter". This was an early 60's Chevy Sedan Delivery(two door wagon or Nomad(chevy), also, if I have the terminology right).

I have always wanted to build a real one. But if I ever get the chance to do so, I would rather do a Pontiac.

So my questions are:
Was there a Pontiac version built in the very early 60's?

If so, is it so rare that I might as well forget about finding one at a price I could afford(otherwise known as extremely cheap)? I wouldn't be looking for a numbers matching or restored car, since this would get highly modified anyway to match the model kit style.

Any links to pictures of one or more?

Just sort of daydreaming about it right now, I am not allowed to have another project until the Lemans is finished. But I was watching the different year pictures at the top of the screen and saw a 55 and 57, and that made me think about this.

The latest Pontiac sedan delivery was the 1958 built in Canada (where all the sedan deliverys for Pontiac were built from day one- 1949). It was the Pathfinder model.

The latest Chevrolet I know of is the 1960, which was dropped that year also.

Ford went on with the Falcon sedan delivery into the '60s, and Pontiac (and I believe Chevy) offered the Aster and Vega in a sedan delivery.

A '60s Pontiac sedan delivery would be neat. I have liked then so much, I built my own... my '69 "Custom" wagon. I've shownthe in-progress picture before, but here is it again. A little further along since this shot, but still unfinished-- DRAT!

Hmm, that '58 would do nicely. Probably a little hard to find though. And likely way out of my price range.

I imagine I would end up having to use a regular station wagon myself. It would really be a lot of work, but I would want to remove the rear doors, probably by welding them in place, to make it a 2 door. Maybe get a '65 Bonneville wagon. When I was 10 we moved from Ohio to Phoenix, Az in one. 2 adults, 4 kids, and a Uhaul trailer.

I was thinking that 1960 was the year of that Chevy car the kit was based on, just couldn't remember for sure.

Am I imagining things or have you deleted the rear tailgate?

Yes, the tailgate is gone. Well, it is still there, but gutted everything out and welded everything closed. I don't think I'll be hauling any 2x4s any time in the future. Although once I hauled 8' pieces of wood by setting them between the seats... it has four Phoenix buckets.

I had thought about removing the rear doors too. But, remember, on station wagons the front doors are way too small to operate as a 2-door. I have seen that done to wagons and it looks really goofy. If you want to go to a 2-door, you have to move the pillar back and use 2-door car doors. Not difficult if it's a sedan, but much harder if it is a hadtop. I decided the extra doors didn't bother me at all with the massive rear sides. Might shave the handles though.
