Need the door window whisker strips, both the metal (chrome) and the rubbers. Also need the same for the back windows. I also need the chrome trim for the bottom of the rocker panels below the doors. If anyone knows where to find these, please tell me. Also need a trunk reline kit if any are available. |

I hate to appear dumb (happens sometimes no matter how hard you try not to!), but I would like to see if I can help with the "whisker strips." Only problem is I have not heard that term before. Can you please describe?
For the trunk kit, have you checked some of the big suppliers like Ames or Year One? They are branching out into the big cars. Year One will give our members a discount too.
Th erocker pieces are either going to be very expensive NOS, if you're lucvky to find, or good salvage yard pieces. Check with Frank at Frank's Pontiac Parts in dry California. Or check with Steve at Indiana Pontiacs in (guess where?) Indiana. Steve give a discount to our members too. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Larry, tks for reply. "whisker strips" are the pieces on each side of the door window glass that are seals against water and anti-rattle/breaking glass when you slam the door. I need the metal and the new rubbers on both doors. |

I purchased some window sweepers for my 1968 Catalina which were made for a Bonneville from Convertible Services (parts) in LA.

Ah! Now I get it. You learn something new every day... no matter how hard you resist! You can tell the guys with the older cars.... those are the "fuzzy strips that go between the glass and the doors/modings." Fortunately, that material is available in long lengths that you cut and shape (sometimes a real challenge too!).
Have you checked with FixIt Rummer Products listed under "AFFILIATES" then "Member Discounts" and "Pontiac Parts?" They carry the Metro Rubber line AND give our members a nice discount. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Thanks guys for the help. I found the window strips at Ames,
Along with new door seals, stops, etc. I had an upholstery guy install them while redoing the interior. I just added a MaxiKool III AC & heat unit also. When the AC expert does the final check on Saturday I can drive my old girl in comfort! The upholstery guy also redid all the window cranks and slides so it all looks good and it works! |

Wow! You're just about set. It's good to know that Ames is branching out so well with the big car items. Thanks for sharing the info. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
