If you check with Ram Air Restoration, be sure to mention you are a member of PontiacRegistry.com. They give our members a 5% discount on all phone orders and a 10% off the web (not sure how thay do the web discount, you might have to ask about that one). But, money saved is more to spend elsewhere (at least that's my wife's philosophy when it comes to shopping!).
Now about those speedo gear colors. Parts men used to be able to tell you the gear tooth count by color. Once you find out how much, and which direction, your speedometer is off, you can go with more teeth to slow the speedo down, or less teeth to speed it up. Or just live with it, keepin gin mind what it "should" be. Just remember to tell someone if they borrow your car! |

I looked at Ram Air Restorations website...wow! I have some questions I hope you guys can answer, I tried calling RARE, but it was after hours. Will these headers fit a GP with air and power steering? |

The gears depend ont the rear end ratios and tire size, as you well know.
Go to http://www.jag-lovers.org/lumps/x/speedo.htm and input your data at the bottom of the page. This will tell you which gears you need.
(Yes, I know this is a Jaguar site) |

Does Indian Adventures offer headers for the '62 Catalina? They may have d-ports available. |

I believe he has a 400 Pontiac in his '62. I am sure the long branch manifolds would work great on the street, but the headers would squeeze a little more power. The headers would probably work better with the cfm produced from the tri-power.
What kind of camshaft are you running in your engine?
Glad to see the progress being made on the car. Maybe you can bring it to our annual car show by next year. Would love to see more old pontiacs at my event. St. Charles is only about an hour and fifteen minutes from Bourbon. |

I am running Comp Cams 288 cam. I hope to have it completed by next year, and I would definitely take it to some shows / cruises. |

If it's a 400 the IA headers are your ticket to free flowing exhaust. |

Is there any place in South America where the dies for the '62 Pontiacs might have been sent? If so, I think I would like to move there! Probably one of the most beautiful Pontiacs ever built.
Can't wait to see the continued progress on our "resident" '62 GP. |

Here is my progess to date. I plumbed the fuel lines to the electric fuel pump along with the wiring, had to fab up a bracket to adapt the '62 accelerator linkage to my '69 engine, modify the AC bracket / alternator bracket to fit. I have ordered long branch exhaust manifolds from RARE (you get 10% off with the coupon from Pontiac Registry when you order online - THANKS). Also ordered the wiring harness (again 10% off thru Lectric Limited) Ain't this place great!! I FINALLY found a good passenger fender, that's what the big primered thing is in the interior pic. I made my Taylor Thundervolt 8.2 mm spark plug wires. For any of you out there who are considering this, it is VERY easy to do, I thought it would be a lot more difficult, but turned out to be VERY EASY. I can't wait for the manifolds and wiring harnesses to get here, I'm chompin' at the bit to get this engine started! |

Looks like you are really making some great progress. I just looked in my garage, and my cars are still just sitting there... doing nothing-- DRAT!
Glad you used the Commercial Supplier Discounts. I have worked very hard to solicit companies and individuals to pass on special discounts to our members. Because we need some kinds of funds to support (and grow) PontiacRegistry.com, this seemed like a good way for our members to save their membership fees, perhaps many times over. Happy that it worked well for you.
Please, everyone, tell all your Pontiac friends about PontiacRegistry.com and the benefits of joining (not just the discounts either!).
Also, if anyone has a company they would like to see become one of our "affiliates", please send us the information so we can contact them.
Thaks to everyone for all their help and support!

I have a question about compression ratio. I have a '69 6 cid which I am running a '65 tripower, #62 heads, Comp cams 288 cam (.288 duration, .237 @ .050, and .481 lift), TH400 tranny, and 3.42's in the rear. Am I going to have any issues with cylinder pressure? What is the compression ratio going to be? Can I run on pump gas? |
