1953 Gas Guage Sending Unit

I am seeing (on Ebay) sending units listed to fit 49-54 Pontiacs. I know that 53 gas tanks were larger (20 gal.) that previous years. Just wondering if the same sending unit will fit all the years listed.

The Hollander Interchange manuals aren't much help as they don't cover the sending units, just the tanks.

Of interest is that the '49-'52 are listed as the same and the '53-'54 as the same. That woul dmake me suspicious of the sending units being the same from '49-'54. However, if the tanks are larger (and I thinkyou are correct in that), a sending unit could still be the same for all if the DEPTH of the tank was the same and only the outer dimensions changed.

Try dropping a note yo early Pontic expert John Harvey listed in the Technical Advisors. I will bet anything that John will have the answer in two seconds.

Funny thing. Except for 2561, 2562, 2571, the sending units are the same 51-53. 49-50 are different.
