I found a card with a line of numbers from 1 to 80 with punches removed above these, not all but quite a few in a 69 judge |

Can you post a picture of it?
Each number is like an option on what the car had/came with. |

There is a GTO/GT-37 Ilustrated Identification Guide written and illustrated by Eric White that has the build sheets shown and explained.
Scan your and post it to this forum and we will try to read for you. See info below "Add an Attachment". Browse the file in your computer, double click on it and then click "Add Attachment" box. |

This card does not look like the build sheet in the book I mentioned.
The date of style matches a '69 Judge, and and trim number shows a black interior, but the rest of the punch info is unclear.
If you do a Google search on 1969 GTO Build Sheet you wil see what the build sheet looks like.
I will send this picture on to our GTO Tech Advisor to see if he has any insight into what the purpose of this card was.
In the '60s and '70s data punch cards were still the latest method of data collection and recording.
We'll check into it; please let us know if you learn anything else about it too. |

larry, Thanks. the PHS on the car shows it as a judge, mid febuary with the black interior. I haven't found a buildsheet, I know what they look like, I just found this under the back seat. it's a baltimore built car and someone said they always put them under the back seat there. I also heard that canada used these instead of buildsheets. If I find anything else out I will update but I haven't had much luck. |

Years ago, working for a technical publishing company, we did a lot of military contract work on manuals. Every parts manual had to be accompanied with a set of punch cards. I don't actually remember what these cards "said" but guess they were a reflection of ever part and where they were in the manuals, as well as their specifications. All I know is each manual contained "shoe boxes" full of cards.
Because this card has 80 numbers, and the build sheets have 80 numbers also, it is a logical guess that this card is the computer version of the build sheet information. However, it makes one wonder why the customer would get it in his car...??
Remember the ads.... "Yes, you too can have an exciting careeer as a key punch operator!" I wonder what they are doing today. |

Our GTO Tech Advisor, Richard Erman, says that this card is for the interior trim and is usually found under the seat bottom or under the carpet. |
