The '04 & '05 GTO, while probably more powerfull than any previous GTO, failed miserably in the looks department. It had it's own look, shared with the Australian Monero, but it never satisfied the traditional GTO enthusiast. With production ending and sales ending this year, the GTO will take a vacation and be back in '08 as a '09 GTO.
Chrysler and Ford have done well with Retro looks and Muscle car scoops and striping. What will the GTO look like? More sleek Monero styling or will GM go the route of the retro '69 Camaro look? I say heavily on the retro look. My guess, '65 GTO.
What do you think? |

Old, old pics. That was the 1998 attempt at bringing it back. I have some small plastic cars of this design. _________________ |

It is somewhat of a shock to me. For the longest time, I couldn't find a '04 or '05 GTO on the street. Recently, I have spotted many! I don't know if the local dealers have significantly lowered the prices or are they now starting to build a following?
While at a local park watching my son's baseball game, one of his friend's told me that I should walk to the parking lot a see two GTO's. I didn't. But on the way out after the game, I counted 9 and two Corvettes. It seems they had a club meeting.
GTO owners where always looking for rare GTO's. The '04 &'05 GTO are rare! And for the same reason as many of the rare '60's GTO's. They didn't build many of the "rare" ones. Why? Nobody was buying them. |

When you look at these first/early attempts of what a new GTO should look like, you can't help but see the new concept Camaro in them. And even more, I see the new concept- soon to be in production- Challenger.
The main thing to consider here is what would be considered "edgy" looking. Edgy=mean=sales today. |
