Since we're on the subject of Pontiac badges (see previous post), can you identify the one below?

I'll give a hint. It was part of the ending of one era, and the beginning of a new one-- ornamentation-wise for Pontiac.

What's unique about this era was that the hood ornaments were disappearing. The last was in '56, followed by the '57 and '58 with mini-"hood ornaments" stuck on top of the front fenders.

While the '57 had a great big winged decoration on the front of the hood, note how clean the hood got on the '58. Then there was the introduction of this little "V" shape stuck in the left grill. It started something. From this point on, Pontiac had some sort of V-shaped emblem, now moved to the nose.

As we all know the "V" ultimately morphed into an "arrowhead" which is today called a "dart". Let's not offend any native Americans with a reference to an arrow. Give me a break!
