The other day I got a brochure from Kruse International promoting the Boca Raton South Florida Collector Car Auction January 1-4, 2009. I guess thay hadn't heard-- I'm NOT rich! But, I sure do enjoy looking at all the beautiful cars that will try to separate the rich South Florida crowd from their bucks.

I was really flattered to see one of the two cars shown on the front cover to be a '57 Fuel Injected Bonneville convertible. The other was a Ferrari. So out of alL the cars to choose, the Pontiac was put in the same class as a Ferrari- cool!

However, the real disappointment came as I cruised through the rest of the brochure. Sixteen pages and 130 cars later, I had only seen five (5) Pontiacs.

Now this event isn't what you would call a Grand Classic type of car auction. Most were '50s to '70s cars of the everyday type, albeit mostly convertibles and hardtops. Not even a lot of out-and-out muscle stuff.

So what's up?! For Pontiac to have been the number three producer in Detroit through much of this period.... 5 cars!! What does that mean to us Pontiac hobbyists? Well, I have an idea.

The Pontiac hobbyplace has been fragmented into segments which often don't even communicate with each other, and in many cases actually hold the other in a bit of distain. We need to come together into one strong group of ALL Pontiacs-- old, not so old, modern, stock, race, custom, etc. I get tired of hearing about Firebird hobbyists who hate full-size Pontiacs, or Fiero lovers who feel like the red-haired step-child at Pontiac events. And let's not even mention the purests who dispise the drag racers or the customizers.

Now for the shameless plug..... I love ALL Pontiacs (actually all cars!) and enjoy each for the special thing they are-- and for the special enjoyment each gets from their own vehicle. That is why PontiacRegistry.com was created. If ever we, as Pontiac lovers, could ralley together around one cause, in one central place, this is the place to do it.

And the result? Well, I bet a future big time auction event might have more than 3.8% Pontiacs represented in its activity. And they may draw bigger bucks too.

Unite Pontiac lovers! We have a huge heritage to uphold and to promote!

All ideas and suggestions of how to make PontiacRegistry.com better able to represent our great big hobby even better are welcome. Help and contributions are certainly welcomed too.
