Located the car on Craig's list of St. Louis. The asking price for the car was $5000. Appeared to be a really nice car. Not certain of the production numbers, but I would think the car would be relatively rare.

400, Turbo 400 Automatic. Has a set of newer Pontiac aluminum wheels on the car (turbo T/A wheels). The exterior is red.

You don't see many of these GTOs. So much concentration is put on the older GTOs it seems that these cars get looked over. I would imagine they handle a brake better than many GTOs.

With only 494 Coupes and 4,312 Sport Coupes made, of which (in total) 4,262 had the 400, these are pretty rare indeed. I'm guessing the survival (or at least the I-kept-it-because-it-was-collectable) rate is very low on these cars. The muscle-era was ending, and the fit and finish of the early '70s cars left a lot to be desired. Dropping the numbers even more is that (again, it total) 3,149 had the automatic transmission.

This would be a rare car to pick up today, and the price doesn't sound too bad either.

The gentlemen that posted the GTO has now dropped the price to $4000. That is a considerable amount. He must need to sell.

I am trying to find out more info on the car.

I will keep everyone posted. I think it is a great body style and the price sounds fair.

Maybe if someone is lucky it will be a "Y" code 455 car. That would be great. You never know.
