"How many 1968 Safaris are there in USA?"
Now that's a tough question. Before attempting any wild guesses, we have to narrow it down a bit. The "Safari" name was used on the Executive, Bonneville, and Tempest wagons. I can't find info (at quick glance) if it was used for Catalina too, but would suspect so.
Now, in addition to which model Safari we are looking for, production figures were shown for 6- and 9- passenger wagons, but unfortunately never for specific models within a series (ie: Safaris within the Bonneville series).
It is a pretty well accepted guess amoung hobbyists that about 10% of a car from back as far as 1968 might still exist today (that includes everything from junkyard car to restored car). If you check in our Technical Data and Info forum you will find production figures for all of 1968, including station wagons. Take a 10% guestimate and you might be close.
Be sure to register your cars in our Pontiac Registry Data Base so we can expand our own data base of information. And, if you wish to share some good photos and a story of you and your cars, we would love to feature them in our On-Line Magazine Monthly "Cover Car"-- everybody loves reading about Pontiac wagons! |
