Road test articles on 1966 Sprints from "Road & Track", "Motor Trend", "Popular Hotrodding", "Sports Car Graphic", etc. all show master cylinders (single chamber) with the domed, cad-plated cap with wire bail closer, with or without power brakes. These were obviously early production Sprints, as the articles came out in the fall of 1966. My 1966 LeMans Sprint with power brakes, built in May, 1966, has a master cylinder with a flatter type cap with the thumbscrew closure. I first thought it was an aftermarket replacement, but now am not sure. Did GM switch suppliers later in production? I thought early domed-cap ones were Bendix, and later ones Kelsey-Hayes, but that is only a guess. Is there a "correct" type for certain production periods? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe Snuggs |

either one would be correct and both would fit the same power brake booster. |
