Your best method to refuel 67 GTO gas tank when empty?

According to the '67 Owners Manual, all Tempests (including GTO), of all engine sizes, had a 21.5 U.S gal. fuel capacity. Your experience, even if it slurped a full 6 gal. would still be short of 21.5 gal. by about a gal. and a half... wonder where the other fuel is supposed to go. Any chance the tank has caved in somewhere (not seen) from a plugged vent at one time?

As far as putting gas in those #@!#%@! flat angled fillers, when I drove wrecker at nights while in the Air Force (keeping your country safe!), we had a crank-type pump. But it was a pain to use so usually just made a mess with what ever we could slop in the tank... heck, the gas was only 30-cents a gal, who cared if you spilled a bunch. I have seen some very simple plastic pumps/siphon hoses that might be handy to carry (probably a JC Whitney item-- check our "Auto Products/Services" under "Affiliates" for a direct link.

Sounds like the next project is figuring out why the gauge read 1/2 when it was actually empty. Keep us posted on your mighty GTO adventures!
