Can anyone share the history of the Pontiac weather vane with me?
I've seen these on eBay and in an antique store, but I've never seen one on a dealership, does anyone have any old photos of one in service? Anyone know what years they were offered?
Thank you for any help or advice on researching this unusual Pontiac artifact. |

I doubt these actually ever saw duty on top of buildings. As I have heard, they were used as display items, mounted on a pipe with a stand for placing on sidewalks and around the dealerships to draw attention.
If you do a search, there are quite a few around, and dates range from the '30s to the '50s. From all the pictures I see, the Indian head never changed. That's kind of odd as it got stylized over the years in many different applications.
I am surprised to see the prices being asked for these. They run from a couple to several hundred dollars. An enameled one sold at an auction for $4000, even though the estimated price range was $800-1000. Guess there was a feeding frenzy!. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
