Speed Alerting Speedometer

Is anyone familiar with a 65 speed alert speedo? I have one that I would like to add to my 65 2+2 clone that I am building. Compared to the original there is an extra lug on the back of the speedo. I would like for the alert to work along with the warning light. If anyone has tackled this project I would be very grateful for some guidence.

I have checked the 1965 Service Manual and unfortunately can find no mention of anything other than the standard spedometer. I am guessing that this item was covered in an accessory suppliment or special bulletin of some sort. I have even checked other manuals (other years) with no luck.

The only mention I find of this unit is in an old Chiltons Manual where they mention special attention to disconnecting a ground wire and clip. I am guessing, however, that the extra lug you mention (I assume an electrical connection) would be for the warning light. That's just a guess. I wonder if there is a way to hook it up as per the old, and then test at speed settings if there is voltage coming from this lug.

Simply drive down the road while holding a voltmeter under the dash on the lug. If that is difficult, find a wife or girl friend to do it-- after all, they can drive, talk on the cell phone, and put on makeup at the same time. Should be a breeze for them!
