|
|
In June of 1974, Super Stock & Drag Illustrated did a new car review of the SD-455 Trans-Am. The magazine staff enjoyed the potential of the car so much, the decided to build a 12-second street car. The second phase of the project was covered in the October 1974 issue. Phase three of the project was completed in January 1975. From this point, I am having difficulty locating the remaining articles of the project.
Close to the same time frame, Super Stock was also doing a Pontiac technical article with the assistance of H.O. Racing. The first issue was in November of 1974, the second in December of 1974, the third in February of 1975 and the last in March of 1975.
The SD-455 project hopefully was covered sometime beyond the March of 1975 issue.
Do any members remember this project car? Do any members have old issues of Super Stock? I would like to see the final results of the article.
This article served special interest to me because the original owner of my 1974 SD-455 car pretty much duplicated everything in the article. It was essentially built identical to the Super Stock project car. In the late 1970's, the T/A that I curently own was running 12.90's on street tires through the exhaust. A big accomplishment considering the T/A's weight factor.
Hopefully some member will remember this interesting article and help me find the last issue to this remarkable project.

A photo of my '74 SD-455 T/A that was pretty much a duplication of the Super Stock project car. |

Nothing like a little reminder to get your friendly (?) web master/on-line editor's butt in gear.
Jeff had located the last of the 3-part articles on the '74 build. I have them and will get them prepared for your enjoyment.... I promise. |
