|

I just aquired a 76 GP LJ with 39000 original miles, 455 engine, A/C... The car is black with maroon interior. I have been told that all the 50th year cars were gold, but this car has a hood and trunk emblem with a 50 on them. Other 76 GP cars I have seen do not have this type emblem. Is there any significance in this? Any help or info on this would be appreciated. |

Although I am no expert on this, I had owned one of these awhile ago(did not buy it new and it had seen better days). The info I had was that they were all model K57's or SJ, came with special paint (Gold), special striping, removable T Tops and a commerative hood ornament and trunk lock cover. I guess someone could easily replace the hood ornament, etc. Hope this helps at a minimum. |

Check in the Technical Article Archive in the year group that covers your GP and you will find paint codes listed.
Check your data tag for your paint code. Black is 19 (Starlight Black), Gold is 55 (Anniversary Gold).
You either have a repaint, or someone put the 50th anniversary emblems on a black car. That seems most reasonable. It sure wouldn't be hard to do. Let us know what you find paint code-wise. |
