Can anyone tell me the origin of this intake manifold. Part 530202-2?
It may have an extra piece in the picture, but I've never seen this type of set up before. It is missing some block off plates. I'm curoius to see what info I can retrieve to see if it is inline with prevoius owners theory? Not sure if picture is attached. It has a cast date of K203 |

hello 1963409, what you show in the picture are
the front "crossover" for the water connection,
these having been cut apart from the manifolds.
with this arrangement any of these can be installed
and the carb portion of the manifold can be "quick"
changed without draining the anti-freeze(water).
your collection seems to span from 1958 thru 1966 or even later. one even looks like the front to
tri-power manifold.
as far as the idenity of the #530202-2 intake
manifold, do you have a picture of it ??
if you could upload it i and others might be able to
identify, regards, jonwhit10 |

I have seen this type of arrangement before, and had the same explaination of the quick-change without water messes (or time). Who would be most interested in this convenience... racers, of course.
I have always wondered why all intakes weren't made that way, but assume with the rarity of the average Joe changing manifolds, the production and assembly time, one piece was always quicker. At least Pontiac guys didn't have to horse big manifolds with stupid oil seal strips like the Ford boys.
I commend johnwit10 with his year ID knowledge.
What was the story from the previous owner? Was he an old racer? |

I will try and post some closer pics of the 1958 Intake Piece.
The box of intake parts were marked "fuelie car"and they were found the trunk of a rare loaded 1963 421 HO car, believed to be an GM executive car because of all the high end options on the car. There also was a Latham supercharger set up that went with the car. The sale of the car was from a private collector liquidating his collection due to an illness. All 50 cars in a short period of time w/o any advertising to a handful of people. ( about 15yrs ago) The car was later sold in a multi car deal and I picked up the intake and some other parts from my friend. |
