This is an Ebay item and according to the seller these emblems are for a 1953 Pontiac. They are certainly not the same as the ones on my 1953 Pontiac...nor the same as the ones on '51 and '52 Pontiacs that I have seen.
The Indian head design looks more like something from the 1940's cars.
Any expert opinions out there??

Just to update here....if you look at the Ebay ad url....it now says "1953, 1950's, 40's " in the ad headline. Originally, the ad only said for 1953...so I sent the seller an email expressing that I did not believe they were for a 1953. He changed the ad headline to what you see there now....and he sent me a return email stating that he had done so.
The seller would also like to know what and where the part is used on a Pontiac.
I am leaning more toward a center grille emblem...but really do not know either.

Those look too "something" (as my wife would say). Actually, I think they look too stylized to be "real". The Indian looks more like a Trojan warrior than an Indian.

What this fellow needs to do is supply the information on the back side (usually cast in). If it is original GM, it will have a GM part number there. These look like reproductions of something probably in the '49-'52 range.

I will bounce a message to our '49-'52 Tech Advisor... he's pretty darn smart!

BTW I downloaded and reposted the image. For some reason it wasn't showing. If that ever happpens, one can still double click on the title and it will show up.

The parts book says that 51-53 rear quarter emblem has the same part number, gp 12.116, pn 514450 RH, and 514451 LH. The 54 rear quarter emblem is a different part number, 517534, uses the same one on each side. I got rid of my 54 some time ago, but I do recall it did look more stylized than the ones on my 51. Possibly it is a 54 part.
