What is the consensus about leaving a 67 GTO stock with bench seats, automatic shifter on the column and other ammenities versus changing the car to one with bucket seats, console, his/her shifter, hood monuted tach and other hot rod appearing items such as wheels, trim rings, different tire sizes, etc. Question Question Question

It's your car. Make it the way you would have ordered it new, or modify it to what that makes you happy.
I would not hesitate to make it a buckets/console car.

So much of the current hobby seems to want to revolve around concourse this, numbers matching that.

There could not be a greater mis-direction in the hobby as that, especially when you are talking about the cars of the muscle era.

Those who were fortunate to own a car from that time (either bought new or used) had a garage full of stuff they took off and replaced with even more performance items.... that's what that era was all about. The same is true for things like bucket seats and floor shifters. Most all of us removed bench seats somewhere along the way and replaced them with buckets and console (only to figure out on the next "hot" date that miss hot-pants was now clear on the other side of the car... never said we were smart, just that we were car nuts!).

So, unless you are building your car for bone stock points judging, make it the way you want to. Or, as Steve said, make this your 1967 new GTO order and check every order box you want... heck, it's yours, and you're paying for it. Have a ball! That's what the hobby is all about.
