Probably one of the more confusing things to discuss is wheel bolt pattern measurements. I have to admit, I was ignorant of how to properly measure the stud/bolt hole spacing.

Oddly, it is done in sort of a weird way. Check the illustration below. Who came up with the idea of measuring from one stud/hole center and then to the outside edge of another?

We get asked all the time about spacing, especially when updating brakes on an older Pontiac. The easiest rule-of-thumb is: old Pontiac 5X5 and newer Pontiacs 5X4.75. We will have to check into the year break off dates, but you get the idea. Hopefully this will help.
