No fault codes is a good thing, just still not pointing to the problem. If your car isn't used much, I wonder if perhaps a hotter set of plugs may help.
Also, how old are the wires? I know that "leaking" and perhaps even shorting wires should cause issues at all times, but perhaps less when warmed up. Leaking wires can absorb and hold moisture that may evaporate when warmed up.
I chased a "bucking and sputtering" intermittent issue with a '91 F-100 that nobody could find the problem with. I thought it was a fuel issue and because of busy business schedule had to rely on the shops to try to find/fix. One "specialty" auto electric shop in town charged $450.00 to find nothing. So I lived with it and hoped it never happened in busy traffic.
Then one day I took it in for an oil change and my mechanic called and said he thinks he found the problem (he had hunted for it too). He said he had it running and reached for something and a spark plug wire zapped him. Supposedly the dealer where I had recently bought it had put new everything on it (and it al looked new too).
Might be worth a try. I have even seen cars running in a totally blackened garage that looked like a Christmas tree under the hood. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

as far as I know the plug wires are original but I think the dark garage while its running is a good idea.
I have planned on pulling a couple of plugs when I get the chance and take a peak at them to see if I can see any thing and if they are not to big a pain changing all of them out.
It really isn't a big deal just something that's frustrating.
I would like to figure it out rather than having to live with it but might end up just saying what the heck.
Will let you know,
Thanks for all the info and help. |

I have heard of people using a spray bottle with water to spray a mist on the wires as it is running to see if it makes it change (as in short out a bit). _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
