Has anyone checked out or test driven the new 2007 Solstice GXP? I have not seen one at my local dealership. I would think the 260 horsepower set up would run fairly good in this combination.

What are your guys thoughts on the new Solstice? I think it would be great if Pontiac offered a V-8 in one of these cars. Talk about a serious power to weight ratio! It would definitely crush the new Mustangs and Chargers.

I saw a yellow Solstice GXP while visiting family in Omaha. The dealership I saw it at is called Plaza Pontiac GMC. It was just over $31k (ouch!). They claim to be the largest indoor dealership in America. The place is huge and beautiful.

I like the Solstice a lot, but I also think at least a V6 should have been dropped in the GXP. I have not driven one yet.

Here's the bottom line. In the dealership parked directly across from this beautiful yellow Solstice was a beatiful red GTO. The cars were priced literally within a few hundred dollars of each other. If I were shelling out over $31k, I would have instantly gone with the GTO hands down. Just my opinion, but the price on the Solstice GXP is a bit steep, especially for a 4 cylinder even if it's got a turbo.

$31,000 is extremely high priced for a four cylinder car. I wonder what kind of 1/4-mile performance these cars will be capable of producing?

I would have to agree, a V-6 would be nice, but how about a V-8? I bet they would sell a ton of these cars with V-8's as long as the retail stayed reasonable.

I am with you on purchasing a new GTO as opposed to the GXP if they are only a few hundred dollars difference. At the beginning of the year, my good friend picked up a 2005 6-speed GTO for $26,000. I thought that was very reasonable. Mid $20's for the GXP sounds more reasonable.

A plain jane Solstice lists for $21,000. hard to believe there could be over $10,000 in optional equipment. Even after all this said, I would still like to drive one.

I take it you are a big Fiero fan? They are really unique cars. I actually owned three of them at one time. I love the way they drive and handle. In the midwest, a person would be amazed at how well they do in snow too. Far better than any front-wheel drive rcar I have ever owned. I had two 1985 2.5 iron duke automatics and a stick shift car too. The manual car was a great deal, someone gave it to me for hauling it off. Someone had installed an alarm system that disabled some things on the car. The owners were aggravated because they could not get it running. I took it off their hands, found out what the problem was, and got it running. I gave the stick shift car to a friend. He is currently installing a 355 small block Chevrolet in it. Should be interesting when he finishes it.

Another one of my friends purchased a super duty head from GM for the 2.5 when they came out. It is still in the original GM box. Kind of a neat part.

Thanks for the info on the GXP. Hopefully someone around here will get one on a lot so I can take it for a spin.

Thanks,
Jeff

$31k is VERY high for a 4 cyl car, but I imagine a lot of the decision to install a 4 cyl has to do with the high cost of fuel nowadays. Bummer. A V8 would be sweet too.

Car and Driver has the GXP doing 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and the 1/4 in 14.2. Pretty impressive.

Yep, I'm a Fieroaholic. This one is my 3rd; my second GT. These cars are just so much fun to drive and they look so darn good too.
